Short update and OOTP
Ducking on line for a few minutes.... Today's my anniversary, so hubby and I have been hanging out togeteher (without rugrat) and we'll be going out to dinner soon.

One of the things we did was go to see Order of the Phoenix. Spouse already knows I'm going to be unavailable on Sunday because I'll be reading DH, so he's nicely getting into the spirit of things.

Love the cinematography of this one -- it was dark and moody, and a great sense of dread throughout. The Black house wasn't what I had in my head, but worked. The Ministry is awesome - both the central hall/plaza and the DoM.

I am SO pleased Lucius and Snape got some interesting things to do in this one. The occculmency lessons and the Snape's Worst Memory flashback were possibly my favorite part. (and that scene when Lucius first appears at the DOM reminded me -- I've thought so before, but Jason Isaacs (wig and all) should be Thranduil of Mirkwood, in The Hobbit. Him and Orlando together in elven gear would possibly explode with all the Pretty).

Tonks and Luna were pitch perfect. And I liked the glimpses we saw of Ginny being powerful, without JKR's occasional beating us over the head about how Speshul she is.

I still hate the whole Grawp thing, but that's the book's fault, not the movie. The fact that he was left in was, however, very interesting.

Umbridge was a far more frightening villain than Voldemort. That's kind of a problem.

Bella -- hm, as much as I like HBC, I would've preferred a less Madwoman take, I think. Interesting that she didn't give the "Crucio you have to mean it" line. Neville is SO gonna have to kick her ass.

And I don't know why, but the death of Sirius didn't work for me. Totally left me cold. I don't know if it was the staging, or maybe just that I knew it was coming so it seemed so anticlimactic,but...meh. Sirius deserved better. Somehow.

Two quotes I think important for the series as a whole:
"The world isn't divided into good people and Death Eaters."
"Everything we lose comes back, but maybe not as we expect."

Indeed. Deathly Hallows here we come.

Admittedly I have something of a Snape filter, but that first line just screamed SNAPE to me.

And I also suspect that Dumbledore is coming back (in some form) in DH, and probably Sirius as well,so that's what I think the second quote is keying.

Luna blew me away with her awesomeness. Tonks I already thought was cool, but I didn't think all that much of Luna.
