House update!
So, after being on the market for about a week, (We hadn't even had the Open House yet, just the Broker's open house (where the brokers are invited to look but can bring clients) and a few showings...)  we got two offers on our house. The higher one was above list, so we accepted. The inspection is Tuesday and, if all goes well with that, and they don't want too much taken off the price for  whatever they find, we might be closing soon. It's so quick and exciting. We went to look for a rental place today to bridge the gap to a new house. Yes, eventually there will be Buying a New House Trauma posts, but this is the Selling Trauma part of it first. We already know the inspection is going to object to the roof (which is about 20yrs old - we didnt' bother to replace it, since we knew we'd either sell or expand the house ourselves) and there are tree roots in the sewer pipe. But we'll see if they're really prepared for buying what amounts to the land and a shack. :)

I'm just really eager to get out. Looking at the apartment complex it was nice to think about a place that I don't have to deal with my neighbor's hideous feral cat colony. look, I know a bunch of you are cat people, but an Actual Crazy Cat Lady is  not great to live next door to. Plus, the complex is new and has a pool, and it'll be a lovely change. The goal eventually is to move into a district with a good high school but that's a couple years away.

In other news, I am already 7K behind for Get Your Words Out, so I have plenty to do in February!  at least we get a Leap Day for the month! :DD

That is wonderful! Maybe they're planning to flip it. Has that been happening in your neighborhood? I'm glad you're not looking at a slog of fixing things, because let me tell you, that's not fun. Have fun in the rental!

they might be, though "professional" flippers usually don't want to pay a lot so they can maximize their profit. This couple according to their letter, does have a contractor in their family, so they're definitely not afraid of fixing/adding on. and yeah, we did a bit of work to update the bathroom and that was PLENTY. did not want to do a full scale addition or anything like that, blechhhhh.

We'll probably still end up having to do work on another house, but at least then we don't have to move in until it's ready. I'm sure the rental complex amenties will pale after awhile, but it'll definitely be fun for a time!

Fingers crossed that the inspection goes well and the sale goes smoothly, as well as the rental prospects are all easy to manage.

I can't believe we bought this house almost nine years ago. It doesn't feel that long ago! Buying/selling/moving is such a hassle, you never get rid of the sense it was just wrangled yesterday!

my husband bought this house in 93 - so it's been awhile and there is a TON of equity, which is one reason we're selling. But it'll definitely be a great relief when we're all closed and packed and out of here! Even if the part before that is such a pain (especially the packing - omg the packing is going to be a horror. Not the house so much, but we've both stored all our Nerd Stuff in the garage for fifteen-plus years.... there's a lot... a lot. :)
