House things (my own home, not the show)
The big news around here is that we're putting our house up for sale (for various reasons, not just that we're sick of the cat stench from next door but that's certainly part of it). So we're now in the process of getting the house ready to show, which mostly amounts to stripping out everything personal and decluttering. which in my house means moving all the geek loot -- my POP figure collection, previously on a shelf in the living room, is now banished to a box.

So the house already looks boring and sad, and we're not even done (because the kiddo's bedroom is a disaster that needs to be boxed up). But on the plus side we're already doing stuff we'd have to do when we finally move anyway, so at least some of it is getting done ahead of time. But wow it's so plain. *sigh*

and also, damn we have a lot of crap. WHY DID WE KEEP THAT THING? WHY? WHYYYYYY? But I guess the greatest part of moving is probably denuding your life of all that crap that sits around because you have no real impetus to get rid of it.  Some of it I want to keep -- old manuscripts and notebooks even though I know logically I'm not likely to look at it again. DVDs I meant to screencap/gif and never got around to it. siiigh  -- "honey, why do we have a copy of a third-rate SciFi movie, "Meteor Storm"?"  --"uh... my Trucco obsession? hey, I managed to not buy Hiddleston's entire backlist, I'm doing pretty well these days..."

Trucco obsession

This seems like a valid reason for many things, not just a copy of a third-rate movie. :D

I would agree except it WAS the reason for many things including the pilot name plate hanging on the wall. .. siiiiigh
