RL stuff
So in a sign of how time moves on, we measured the kiddo today and found out he's 5'2" (158cm), and has grown an inch in four months. He's now taller than his aunt, moving in on his grandmothers. and probably by Oct will be taller than I am. (ok I exaggerate, I'm 5'5", but it's not that far off...)  But he's definitely tall for his age. He's almost done with fifth grade, which is a grade I remember quite well. before that, I remember only bits of school, but fifth was pretty memorable.

So another week, and it's summer time. Kiddo has some camps which help break up the monotony, summer school for a couple weeks, and then at the end of Aug we'll be in London for five days. So far he's most excited that we get to take one of the A380s - we see so many of them, but haven't been on one yet. We'll be in the steerage seats, so I'm sure it'll be no different than any other airplane, but I'm hoping they might at least let him visit the upper deck just to check it out. Both D and I have been to London before (though it's been more than ten years at this point, so not recently), so it's more a time to show the kid a bit of the city.

We are, however, tentatively planning Dragon-Con NEXT year (2016) - next year kiddo will also be old enough for Space Camp in Huntsville, so we're thinking of combining the two trips (and then I'm like, yeah, Alabama and Georgia in late August - that sounds SWELL) But that's also middle school, and things like sports practices that start before school begins, so I don't know if we'll be able to, yet.

Need to get started on my Not Prime Time Ficathon fic. I've been letting it linger but I'm now a month out and I need to get going. At least come up with some ideas.

I remember fifth and sixth grade. I was twelve in sixth grade, and had reached 5'4 1/4" and was taller than most everybody, including most of the boys. I stayed at that height until I was in my twenties, when I grew the last three-quarters of an inch. By that time, most everybody was taller than me. lol

Several of us are thinking DC next year. It'd be fun if it happened to be a year with a nice BSG fangirl contingent. :D

yeah, I think the girls definitely get taller earlier overall - makes middle school even MORE delightfully awkward... :/

I'm hoping I finally get to go to D*C - i've been wanting to for a dozen years and more (since I was in SG-1 fandom a bazillion years ago!) and it'd be awesome to meet up with everyone!
