SQUEE!
Oh yay! If the resolution is as good as the set up, these two will be great.
In the world's longest teaser:
Chief heard sounds that I thought were the faint sound of Cylon ships, and it turned out that it was just, er, sound effects. Although on second thought, maybe those were Cylon ship sounds pulling him in that direction. That would be somewhat ironic if the Heavy Raider landing was what drew his attention, but I'm not quite sure of the timeline.
There was Kara/Lee kissage. "I won't get divorced and you won't cheat, where does that leave us?" Well, it probably suggests you have different and incompatible moral/religious standards for one thing, and you should probably both realize that those things are kind of big sticky points for the future. But then, I've been to pre-marriage counseling and neither of them did.
Then, credits. I had thought we were in the first act already.
I still don't understand why the Cylons want to find Earth. Except to find them and destroy them too, which is obviously Cavill's point of view. It was good to see him point out that the Cylons don't need to be in a hurry to find Earth and the Eye is really not that strategic for them. Though for D'anna it clearly is, but she'd doing it for herself, not the Cylons as a whole. Her Quest,or whatever.
Hera! Hello, cutie! Boomer really did look at her wit's end dealing with her, didn't she? maybe that's why she was so pissy on Galactica. But at least someone finally told Sharon. Someone she'd believe more than D'anna, anyway, though I'm sure a second person telling her, as well as having details, was what made her believe.
I was a little disappointed to miss the Sharon and Helo confront Adama scene, but I guess his being bewildered wasn't that dramatically interesting (or perhaps one of the guards reported to him what Boomer said and then he asked Roslin and then the scene we saw, it was unclear how he found out). Walking out on Roslin was great, and well deserved.
I can't wait until Sharon and Helo confront her, now that they know she was the architect. I am so glad that Adama didn't know (called it! yes!). because if he had known that would push both Sharon and Helo against the wall, without anyone to trust, and at least now their faith (particularly Sharon's, but Helo too) is kept in him.
Meanwhile, down on the ground....
GUH! HAWT!
Sam and Lee. Kara who? I say get them together. Sweaty and dirrty and longer hair, yummy scruffiness And ArmPorn that just didn't stop. Very well done confrontations, tense without tipping into melodrama. And oh my God, the smackdown line "you're not the first". Whereas I didn't believe him when I saw the clip before, in combination with what she said in the Raptor, I think he was telling the truth. Delivered for the pupose of hurting Lee, of course, but not a lie.
I gather that when he walked away after UB, he and Kara didn't see each other much, if it all. But they know each other, don't they? She knew that he'd help, despite his personal issues with both her and Lee, and he knows that she's not, and possibly never been faithful to him, and he loves her anyway. And then she crashes (possibly distracted by visions of the truly hot men in her life, because damn, I sure would be) and Sam wants to go after her, and Lee's all about the big picture. And of course, they're both right.
But Lee's not going to shoot him, though I have no doubt Sam will press the confrontation, becasue the Cylons are going to come screaming in overhead and Sam will help defend the camp, whether he wants to or not. He can see the big picture after all, especially when his people's lives are on the line.
Meanwhile, Adama's aware of the much bigger picture, but I will bet anything that he won't have to launch because the Chief's gonna open the Eye. (I do hope someone tried pressing the button already. If that's all it takes I'm going to be really disappointed).
Random odds and ends:
Was anyone else a little weirded out by Nicki Clyne talking about whether Nicky was all right? It just struck me when she was saying it.
Centurions are still cool. I know they're expensive and all, but I always enjoy watching them.
No Doral. he must have been out shopping.
Poor Caprica, abandoned. I wonder what Head!Gaius was saying as Baltar and D'anna were walking away.
Damn it, could they not give us Cavill's number already! Jeez...
Line that still makes me laugh, even as many times as I've heard it now: "And we'll throw in Baltar."
Hera! FINALLY!
January 21, hurry up!
And I finished my draft for
yuletide! YAY!
