news of awesome
Mo Ryan says that possible Cylon War webseries is going to be a movie and back-door pilot instead. eee! Tenth year of the war... If it goes to series, you know what this means? FINAL FIVE, BABY. (which is both thrilling and kind of terrifying, since I like my fanon, eep) But I liked the flashbacks to the war, so a full movie would be pretty cool at least. Michael Taylor wrote the script, and W/T are on board, too. *wiggles delightedly*

Decision on Caprica will be Nov 15, btw. After they see a few more weeks of numbers, I presume. But good heavens, they keep that cast/crew on a string, don't they?

Also, I watched "Lost Girl" ep 1. Very fun! (and also not so close to my NaNo Project as I feared, phew, though that one guy reminds me of JR Bourne a little too much and it keeps distracting me.) I'm not a femslasher, but, um, hello, it does kind of leap off the screen, doesn't it? lol.

Kind of like Katee and Tricia's cross-country motorcycle ride, amirite? y'all have contaminated me, I swear - before fandom I would never have even considered RPF. And now it seems SO OBVIOUS.

AAAAND there was Vampire Diaries awesome.

This ep was just all around fantastic. It used everybody well, they all had something to do. Even Jenna! (poor Jenna)

ah, Katherine. LOVE HER.

And you know, it's not as if I'm not totally used to people playing different versions of themselves (Six! Eight!) so it does kind of crack me up when people are all "ooo Nina, good job" - it's not that I disagree, I just kind of want to say "When she gets to eight different versions, THEN we'll talk." But when she does things like have Katherine-pretending-to-be-Elena and it's still a tiny bit different, that's some good work there.

And also Paul Wesley brought his entire A and B and C game. From being all adorably cute with Elena and Damon later, casual threats with Mason, screaming in the well, and just shattering at the end.... damn. I both and can't wait for what's going to happen now that he's lost Elena, he's back on blood, and he's gotta be really, really pissed at Katherine. Stefan is totally the type to go all Hulk-like: "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry." Now the question is just whether she's underestimated him, or this is exactly what she's counting on. *bites lip in worry* (and see, any other show, I would be SURE that he and the others were going to kick her ass. this show? I'm not at all.. eep)

The paralleling in the story was pretty great from a structural point as well -- not only the beginning where it's overt: Elena and Stefan, compared to Katherine and Mason. Poor guy - though you have to think he didn't fully believe her either, since he put the moonstone in a place he thought she couldn't get it.

But also later, when Stefan was in the well getting tortured by the vervain water, up above Damon was torturing Mason with the wolf-vervain. Mason died, because he was stupid for love (or maybe because Damon was stupid for love). But Stefan lived because his love was true, AND because he'd made friends in Bonnie and Caroline who ALSO fought to get him free. He wasn't alone, whereas Mason had no one. Sad.

Speaking of the well, how hardcore is Elena? No hesistation at all - just pick up rock, gash hand. She's gotten pretty used to it. (But since that had to be more than a few drops, we'll have to see if that has... unfortunate consequences).

Although I suppose Elena's hardcore is like a candle compared to Katherine. Compelling Jenna to stab herself in the gut? DAMN. When she said she was going to torture Elena's relatives in front of her, she meant it. (Still convinced she wants to isolate Elena for purposes of bodyswitching, either literally through magic, or just trick).

Because think about it for a moment, now that we know a moonstone seals the curse on werewolves AND vampires, what if she intends a spell to KILL all the vamps and werewolves? She was awfully hot to get that weapon out of the tomb, which, as we know, affected both vamps and weres. Maybe that was a trial version of what she intends to do on a more massive scale? And bodyswitching into Elena would keep her safe.

Or maybe the spell is to make them all human? That just doesn't have a villain ring to it though. It feels more likely that she intends to kill them. Or maybe reverse the curse -- so weres get the sun allergy and vamps all suddenly get a MOON allergy? Even daywalking bling would be useless then.

Okay, that's all the deep thoughts I got.

And I enjoyed Nikita as well. *deep breath* okay, now I'm done.

I think I've decided that Katherine is one of the scariest, most capable villians I've seen on TV in a long time. I'm not sure what that says about my TV watching, but she's just awesome. I keep getting shocked at her actions, but more in a 'I can't believe that just happened' rather then a 'I can't believe that character just did that' because the writers have totally sold me on her capability.

She is scary! She's such a sociopath, but she's clever about it. She lies to everyone, so you never know when she's actually telling the truth. Plus, a lot of shows give away what the villain is after, and in this one, we're in the dark as much as the characters.

To quote TWOP on Vampire Diaries:

Are you flailing? I am so flailing. Here, feel my flail.

WHAT DOES THIS SHOW DO TO ME?!?! Every week. Every week. Why am I still surprised by anything on this show?

And Nikita was all kinds of fun. It probably shouldn't have been funny, since Alex was, you know, being tortured, but I admit amusement at the 4 of them watching. Mostly Percy and Birkhoff, who I honestly expected to bring out popcorn at any minute.

OMG that WAS funny with everyone but Michael all "Mmm, yeah, this is a pretty good flick." *nomnom* And MIchael's all "I'm gonna go stop this, it's wrong, you're all evil, and -- oops, I meant, this is pointless and illogical, not 'wrong.' I would never say 'wrong', no." heh

I hope too many people aren't doing what I probably am, i.e. putting the Caprica Season 1.0 DVD set on their Christmas list. Since they're looking at DVD sales.

hard to know what they're looking at. But I don't think Caprica has ever given them the numbers or even the critical acclaim they wanted/hoped for. So my bet is it's a goner.

Now if only Skiffy would figure out that year-lond-breaks between episodes do bad things to their shows...

YES. YES, I know,.

Also, Megan (I think?) thought Dyson was JR, too. =D
