Adam Hiddles OLLA gun

Sunday wrap-up

This weekend was baseball-free and we scarcely know what to do with our time! So we did some spring cleaning (and made me think kid's baseball games are really not that bad.)  There was a game this evening though, and after some early struggles, at his final up at bat he finally hit it. Nice fly to center, but it was caught. (I happened to take a video of it and my voice is hilarious - "go go go go go *groan*")

I had a very vivid dream where Kenneth Branagh came to my house - and I knew who he was, and so I let him in. But he was - surprise!- also an FBI agent and he was looking through all our computers for something, and I was like "damn, I probably should have hidden that hard drive with all my downloads".  I blame the program I had watched on the Malaysian airplane investigation for most of it, but really, where Branagh came from I have no fucking clue (except he's obviously entwined with Hiddles in my brain, so there's that, but still. weird. It was totally him, too, at least as far as I've seen in interviews and such.)

Speaking of my fictional boyfriends, I went to Only Lovers Left Alive on Friday - by myself because I wanted to go and didn't really want to wait until various fangirls could get their crap together to go in a group. (and given its US release is first limited to NY/LA I kind of felt like I should at least make an effort to drop my pennies in the jar to ensure a nationwide distribution - there was a bit of doubt that Sony Classics would open it wider if the numbers aren't worth the effort to promote it). I think I'd managed to see at least half of it before, through all the official clips and various gifs off some torrent or whatever, but still seeing it all in proper sequence was much better. It's unquestioningly an art house film and will never widely appeal, I don't think, but still the cast is marvelous and the night-time cinematography throughout is gorgeous. And good lord, it's like catnip for me anyway -- concepts of immortality! How do you make eternity bearable? ugh, Jarmusch, stop reading my stuff. So I loved that part so much.  (also, hee, Adam's disdain every time he sees wiring is hilarious).

It's kind of ironic in a way, since it's almost the complete antithesis of Winter Soldier, which is loud and bright and action-y popcorn, and we saw on Saturday. My kid had to get up twice, disturbed by all the violence (he's very empathetic for everyone) but as he said himself, he also liked nazis getting punched in the face. But omg seeing both films has left me in a bucket of feels for everybody and I want to FIC ALL THE THINGS.

So Bucky fic is first, because OMG. BUCKKKKYYYY. like, I knew , but I didn't know until I saw it. (and then, no more, though, gotta get back to finishing my other stuff, instead of getting distracted by the shiny)

Though I do think they need to do a better job of trying to make an effort to explain what the other Avengers are doing. It's okay in comic books to kind of exist in slightly other universes except when they need to come together, but either it's one MCU or it's not, and doing it half-assed is starting to annoy me.
