Stargate post o' the day
Monday SG-1: Summit and Last Stand are part of the daytime block. Man, I love those eps. Love Osiris. LOVE her outfit. Love Baal. Love Daniel and Jacob and the "Uh oh, change of plan" conversations they have through the whole thing. Aldwin and his earnest boringness, and Jack's avoidance of both to hang with Teal'c. Plus, there is shooting, and shit blowing up, and noble sacrifices and poor Sam getting her heart stomped on a little more. And big giant Jaffa armies (one of the few times we actually SEE how freakin' impressive the Goa'uld can be, come to think of it).

Plus, in some alternate reality JR Bourne was available and MARTOUF CAME BACK!!!! (why couldn't it be the reality I live in though? *sigh*)

Lest I forget, there was Atlantis tonight. (still haven't watched 'Harmony' but I did want to make an extra special effort for "based on a story concept by Joe Flanigan", after hearing him bitch about the Canadian writer's guild over it, I gather he's lucky to get credit at all, even a lukewarm one like that).

Ronon and Sheppard ROAD TRIP!!!

Ronon in Earth clothes is strangely hotter, although also more Jason than Ronon. At least I can't as easily pretend Ronon is a "real" character when he's wandering around wearing his actor's clothes. But that's just me, I'm sure.

And okay the Blade Runner/T2 mashup was predictable, but some really excellent character work from JF and the two guest star women. (and can I just say for the record how amazing yet annoying it is that I was looking at the ex and going 'I know her from someplace', and MrLiz pops up with "hm, Kari Wuher, I wonder where she's been." He has a scary facility with actors' names and faces.)

Meanwhile, I was over there with "BATES!" hee. Good way to bring him back, I thought.

Ninja!Ronon: "This is free, right?" *snerk*

And that was a pretty good running action sequence there, ending in the jump. I was impressed - they don't often go through that much effort.

Was that Whistler there in the background? Some mountain with snow and what looked like a ski area, anyway. Pretty. I haven't been to Vancouver since I was 12, I really ought to go back sometime.

Anyway, hubby thought they were going to hire Ava onto the SGC. But he doesn't know about Reece and RepliCarter and all the other eps about Evil, Tricksy Replicators, so he was understandably wrong.

The end was a bit of a cop out, but at least it made use of a known technology. Good use of continuity, writing staff! *cookie*

And darling John, if your dad was that controlling, he was planning your life well before 14. That sort of thing starts with Over Coaching your Little League and getting into the "right" grade schools. Trust me, I have met many people like that. BTW, your brother's an ass. No wonder Shep's such a mental screw up sometimes.

Hey, thank goodness for Bill Lee, eh? Who the hell else would do the tricky science stuff while Sam is off boinking Lorne and Rodney is.... busy. Because there are NO other scientists at the SGC or Area 51 apparently.

But it was fun.

And it's not Stargate but OMG I need to work on my Shagathon fic... It's freakin' FEBRUARY already and I have nothing.

Ever since I did that Sam/Lorne for Rarepair, I ship them constantly. Notice how they're both conveniently "absent" from some eps? uh huh, I have my OWN ideas of where they are and what they're doing...

Because yes, PRETTY. *sigh*

I was hoping that would have hired the girl into the SGC, I guess SGA hasn't been able to make the same cognitive leap that BSG has made when it came to Sharon (Cylons are people too) in respect to the replicators.

Huh, I think I'd disagree. I think there's an acknowledgment that they ARE people. Back in 'Menace' Reese was considered a person - but a very dangerous, crazy person. And since NONE of the replicators have so far been trustworthy, I can't really blame the SGC for being cautious with Ava. It's unfair to her, if she really is innocent, but both Reece and RepliCarter seemed nice and innocent too, and look how that turned out.

I was a little disappointed in this episode (if you don't count the hotness factor which was OMGTHUDDROOL). In the first scene where we see Ava I looked at her, looked at Chad and said "she's a replicator" and then proceeded to drool and be a little bored. I wish they would have gotten more into what makes Shep tick and spent a little less time chasing that other replicator around. Flannigan did a great job with what he had in the script and with the extras but there could have been more. Maybe asking for Shep to confront his brother with the fact that he was being a jerk is asking for too much from the character at this point.

Or maybe I'm still cranky from watching Harmony. *shrug*

Next week looks awesome though. Sam! Keller! Off-world together! Add Lizzie and you have my own personal heaven.

The secret to SGA is low expectations and the Pretty. There's really no other way to watch... :)

I keep forgetting that...maybe that's why it has been frustrating me lately...at least we still have the pretty! :D
