Weekend notes
-- Watching Chronicles of Riddick. I don't get why so many people were so down on this movie. Some people rant on it like crazy, but it's not that bad. It takes itself too seriously, but that's hardly the worst flaw ever. It's got some nifty ideas and it's visually arresting in parts. It's also one of the few SF movies that take place in SPACE. Interesting concept, no? But not one in much use lately.

-- Why is it any story of mine that touches on the Final Five must, for some reason, get all philosophical? I have very nearly binned the latest for screeching to a slow crawl, but maybe I can salvage it somehow. Perhaps put porn in it? That'll break up the tedium ... but wait, I can't ship Sharon and Sam, that's just all kinds of WRONG.

hm. Would anybody read OT4 with Sam/Kara/Helo/Sharon? *looks hopeful* No? ah well. I'll sit on it some more.

Riddick is good, as long as it's not the director's cut. That... had bad mythology in it that was wince-worthy.

Your icon is really hot. Can I have one?

I would read OT4. Write.
lizardbeth: Helo - Anderslizardbeth_j on June 24th, 2007 05:33 am (UTC)
hm, I didn't realize it was different. Never seen it I guess. But wow is this annoying-- they're showing Matrix right after, and the riddick credits are still running in the right-third of the screen while Matrix is actually playing! grr.

yes, of course! Person who made it has a whole bunch o' Anders and other ones -- I prowled around last night for new ones. (note other new one)

I've never done OT4 before! What do you do with all the limbs and things? *flail*

...damn. Note to self: no Trucco/Tahmoh, no Trucco/Tahmoh...

Yeah, the director's cut has more Mary Sue backstory for Riddick, including some mystical chick in flowing robes, or something. Not to be confused with f'ing Judi "I can make you bow just by raising my eyebrow, peon" Dench. Who is awesome.

The arms, fingers, hands, legs, penii and feet are hard to juggle. You kind of have to get a good picture of what you want in your head, then pick one person to dog during the scene and let it flow from there. Worry less about placement and more about getting movement and visceral stuff across. Then go back and make sure, say, Sam doesn't have two right hands groping Kara's breasts.

lizardbeth: Tahmoh - Truccolizardbeth_j on June 24th, 2007 05:58 am (UTC)
because I can't resist the pretty RP-ness either, apparently... WE ARE DOOMED!

she is awesome. IIRC Vin Diesel or Twohy or both sent her flowers every day to get her to do the movie. Which, just kills me with the awwww.

heh. well, I'll see how totally embarrassingly awful it goes...

*blames you*

Tahmoh finds Trucco on a balcony, cigarette in his fingers--but it's unlit. Like he's posing for some magazine. No cameras, though Tahmoh figures if there are any out there, they're both out of luck. "What are you doing?"

"Smoking." As if he wanted to add something derisive, Michael opens his mouth, then closes it and shrugs, bringing the white stick to his lips. "Got a light?"

"Nah. That shit'll kill you, man."

"Look--" the movement is jerky, and Michael glares at him in the semi-dark, "Either I smoke, or--"

Or--oh. Tahmoh actually steps back a little in surprise, then smirks, "I warned you about cons, man."

"You did." His voice says it totally wasn't enough, though. "But you didn't explain the breasts and the groping and the energy--fuck, man, my skin is trying to crawl off."

"So find some chick," Tahmoh suggests, almost bored. God, he's had this conversation way too many times--and Aaron always claims it's always a stupid solution.

"That's fucking insane. No. Have you seen the women here? If I go for one, they'll all rip her to shreds." He pauses, a slight contemplative look in his eyes, "There was this one, though. Brunette and breasts--" he vaguely waved his hands in the correct shape of an hourglass.

Rolling his eyes, Tahmoh slaps his shoulder, "Whatever, man. If you don't want advice, don't ask for it."

"I need matches," Michael mutters, turning to head into the suite.

"Wait--" reaching out, Tahmoh catches him, presses the other man up against the railing and kisses him full on the mouth. They're nearly the same weight, both the same height, and it's fucking weird, but good.

Michael's surprise keeps him pinned. Tahmoh uses that to his advantage, grinding against him just a little before pulling back and letting him go.

Getting his breath back, Tahmoh smirks, "I told you about cons, man. Now, if you'll excuse me, I got a hot date with a redhead."

Michael doesn't try to stop him.

This time.

omg. That is SO CUTE. sending her flowers! Eeek! So awesome.

hey. Er. Feel free to make me read it, if you want. I've written OT5 before, and contemplated OT7.
lizardbeth: Tahmoh - Truccolizardbeth_j on June 24th, 2007 06:24 am (UTC)
*glees at the Dirty!Bad!Wrong RPF* Cons truly are the root of all evil, yes. But I would pay money to watch this. *am bad person*

well, it's not yet written. It's only an idea for solving my story issue... (although if Matrix is to be believed, I've already decided to do it, so apparently it will exist. or something like that. matrix reloaded always makes my head hurt)

OT7?!?!?!? What, all of X-Force?

Can Trucco just kiss some boys for us? It would be pretty. He could kiss some more girls, too.

It's a good thing you clarified that, because I was trying to figure out how Enzo Matrix fit into BSG, and of course that led to the inevitable thought that Roslin would try to airlock him and AndrAIa would nail her with her talons and then Frisket would bite Hot Dog. Or a marine.

SG-1 keeps it in the family, yo. And Jimmy would never kiss 'Berto. Tabby would enjoy it all, though.
lizardbethlizardbeth_j on June 24th, 2007 06:44 am (UTC)
oh yes. Sigh. Well if Sam and Kara are apart some more, than maybe Sam really can go around frakking everything that moves on Galactica as part of his own existential crisis. Boys and girls. Anders/Apollo in the shower. Anders/Tory in the bunk. Anders/Dee in a raptor. Bonus points for random, gratuitous shirtlessness too.

oh, sorry, yes, spouse is watching Matrix Reloaded, so it's kind of filtering over.

I thought of that, but didn't include Jonas, so the count didn't come out right. And I even like Jonas. :)

Dude, if you wrote that I would declare a public holiday in your honour. I have been trying to get SOMEONE to write that for a good six months, with no luck. I'd even beta if you needed it.

lizardbeth: Helo - Anderslizardbeth_j on June 24th, 2007 06:36 am (UTC)
A public holiday? AWESOME! :D

all right, with this encouragement, I will, um, give it a try. It'll be fun at least.
Mayhem Parva: Rain (hmwitzy)raincitygirl on June 24th, 2007 06:52 am (UTC)
See, I've been wanting this for a very long time. Since way before we found out about Anders and that whole *ahem, ahem* thing, actually. And the *ahem, ahem* just makes it all the more juicy and fabulous.
lizardbeth: Tahmoh - Truccolizardbeth_j on June 24th, 2007 07:04 am (UTC)
bwah! Now, there's a thread I should've thumbtacked. oh well, I'm just late to the party I guess.

But very inspiring reading, thank you. :D
Mayhem Parva: Firefly Simon (session416)raincitygirl on June 24th, 2007 07:09 am (UTC)
Yes, but the point is that nobody actually got around to writing it. Until now. So, while you may be late to the party, I can guarantee that you'll be DAMN popular at it.
entertaining in a disturbing way: Anders sweetlyssie on June 24th, 2007 07:40 am (UTC)
AHAHAHAH. I never saw that thread. but yes. Obviously, someone should write it.
ekaterina@dreamwidthvorblessing on June 24th, 2007 09:17 am (UTC)
Mmm. That would be quite nice. I remember reading some fic where Kara and Helo were bff in high school--first-time awkwardness! frakbuddies! yay--and I always liked that idea. And I like to think that there must have been times when they were all first serving together that they all went out and got stinking drunk together, so maybe there could be some independent Kara/Helo/Sharon history, too. Which is to say, yes. I would TOTALLY read that. And love eet.
lizardbeth: Tahmoh - Truccolizardbeth_j on June 24th, 2007 10:48 pm (UTC)
all right, I'll see what I can do, now that I know there's apparently a totally untapped audience! :)
showmewrtr: Spike Reading Beautifulshowmewrtr on June 24th, 2007 04:10 pm (UTC)
I thought Chroniciles had some good ideas, but that we didn't get any depth at all.. to anything. It was all about how many cool shots/special effects could we pack into the movie. I really wanted to like it. I really did. I didn't stop watching it like I did with Blade, but I felt the treatment of the subject matter and the ideas wasn't as in-depth as this writer/reader would like.
lizardbeth: Anders - no shirtlizardbeth_j on June 24th, 2007 10:42 pm (UTC)
It's not a great film, no. And there are several sequences that are laughably OTT. But I remember when it came out, it was pretty universally derided as Worst!Film!Ever!OMG! And it's just not. Admittedly, I grant a lot of extra points for even TRYING for a new sf-nal mythology. That's pretty rare these days. And I'm a bit sad the film tanked, because they're not going to explore that 'verse any more.
weissmanweissman on June 24th, 2007 11:26 pm (UTC)
I guess the biggest problem most people had with the "Chronicles of Riddick" was it appeared that they couldn't decide if they wanted to make a movie about Riddick and the Necromancers or Riddick on a prison planet, so that took one and stuck it in the other one. Just when the Necromancer plot starts chugging along they stop it and get all involved in the Prison plot line, that goes for a while, then they get back to the Necromancers. Now I actually like this movie as I really like the Character of Riddick, and would have loved to have seen what was going to happen next after they turn off the planet buster devices and all the Necromancers bow down to Riddick.

I read anything you write.

lizardbeth: Agathonslizardbeth_j on June 25th, 2007 02:51 am (UTC)
I suspect the biggest problem people really had with the movie, at least at the time, was that Vin Diesel was in it. His arrogant twat-headedness didn't help anyone overlook the movie's flaws, that's for sure.

I had met the guy at two seperate convention in NYC. I was doing guest escort for him both times, he impressed me as being very nice and very well spoken. he was plasant to work with for the days that I worked with him and was very nice to all the fans.
