Fic Meme and stuff
Amazing how I can be so busy and now so tired from this weekend, and yet have nothing interesting to report. Just the usual RL running around. I've done nothing fannish, at all. Not a word written, I haven't even watched t.v. I did buy the last two issues of the BSG comic for all its cracky goodness, but I haven't read them yet.

It's freakin HOT here, y'all. Just an aside.

Even when I had a bit of free time, I didn't do anything productive. I have too many projects going, I think, and it's hard to focus on just one. So I end up doing none and read old fic for the hell of it.

So, since I've seen this around:

Unfortunately many of the fics I absolutely love are my massive unfinished epics. I have an sprawling B5 AU set in the 13th Century that I LOVE with an unholy glee. But I've never put it online because it's always been in the back of my mind to file off the serial numbers and try to publish it as an original novel.

And yes, I write AU's. OFTEN. I love them so much, because when they fall into place and I know what happens next, it's magic.

Here's my list of my five faves people can actually read. They're old generally, not because I don't like my new stuff, but I figure people have probably read all that recent stuff (if they're interested to begin with) since it's here on lj.

1. For Want of Mithril. Part One of my (unfinished/abandoned) Lord of the Rings AU, Broken Fellowship in which Frodo dies in Moria and Legolas ends up with the One Ring. I really love all of what I wrote in this AU, including the unpublished bits of Part 5, since it combines my own style with Tolkien's fairly seamlessly, I think.

2. The Last Message. B5 fic. Delenn comes to terms with Sheridan's fall at Z'ha'dum, with a little help. My first 'published' fanfic. I'm terribly biased, but I think it's still a perfect glimpse of Delenn in a moment of time, wrestling with her grief and her faith.

3. Pilgrimage to Minbar B5 fic. The closest I ever got to Sinclair/Garibaldi slashfic. I love this for the Garibaldi we see, desperate to understand what happened to his friend before he can move on. Garibaldi needed closure on the show, and never got it, so this was my take. And writing Minbari always rocks my socks, because they're just awesome.

4. Tok'ra Allegiance. SG-1, Tok'ra fic. This was meant to be a one-off "Allegiance" reaction fic. Yeah. Heh. It has now spawned an entire series, because I love the character I created in Asheron (Malek's host) so much. He's a real person in my head, and even though I think the next story will probably be the last, I can't say for sure, because he may want me to tell another of his stories.

5. A Comic Reaction. X-Men. Awhile back, Marvel published this one-shot Codename:X-Men, which was supposed to be a comic book from the Marvel Universe, about the X-Men. Cyclops and Wolverine do NOT take it well. Hee. I don't do humor, generally, but this I love for its character humor, and cuz -- how can you NOT love a fic in which Sinister is a scary badass? It's also amazingly prophetic for current continuity and my feelings toward it.

Wow. Just wow. I've just read your 2 B5 fics and I had to comment, The Last Message and Pilgrimage to Minbar were absolutely terrific, Delenn's voice in both of them even more so.

My favourite of the two was TLM because while it was about Delenn it had cameos from Lennier before he went crazy and the letters sounded like they came straight from the mouth of Jeffrey Sinclair. Bravo and well done. I'm going to look at your other fic and friend you if you don't mind.

Thank you so much! It's so wonderful to get feedback on two stories that are so old, and yet still close to my heart. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that Last Message was written, um, fifteen (gulp!) years ago, and while I write better plots today than I did then, I don't think I've done a better short story. I wrote it in a flash of pure inspiration -- the draft took about forty-five minutes and I don't think I changed much in edits either.

There are a few other B5 stories there on my site. and if you read End of Everything and want to read more, let me know. I actually have more that I never bothered to put up, though it's not finished.

Feel free to friend and wander around! I don't bite. *g*
