Fic Writing Meme answers:

Total number of completed stories:  20. 18 since Last Contract and Fallen on Snow are genuine WIPs.

Total word count: 164846 words added to AO3  (removing the reposted stuff on the year).  Only includes 39335 of Comes the Hurricane and 36398 of Ice Demon/Spider which will finish in 2016.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted? probably about the same?

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? I would not have predicted the Kanan/Hera since I didn't watch much Clone Wars, so wouldn't have guessed I'd like Rebels as much as I do.

What’s your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? Although it's stalled at the moment, I think The Last contract might have been my favorite. i've been living with Comes the Hurricane too long for it to be my favorite, and while I love parts of Ice Demon and Spider to pieces, there's a lot of deliberation there, where Last Conract was much more spontaneous (and thus the stalled problem now)

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? to post actual WIPs (rather than installments in something I've done). And... I did kind of learn why I don't do that...

My best story of this year: Ice Demon and the Spider.

My most popular story: It's not even done yet, but Comes the Hurricane is pretty clearly going to pass everything else from the year.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion? Ice Demon and the Spider probably. I get so tempted to mark it as Thorki/Thunderfrost just to get a wider readership. *sigh*

Most fun story to write? Best of Bad Choices, because Pretend Relationships are fun.

Most Sexy Story: The Fire Within, probably. DIdn't write much porn this year.

Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story:  *looks* hmm, nothing really. I suppose the torture sequence in Spider is the worst of any of it.

Hardest story to write: Comes the Hurricane. For length, complexity, number of characters, ARRRGGGH. such a pain to wrangle all of them.

Most disappointing:  Disappointing/surprising for how popular Olicity is as a ship that it's not a big fanfic ship. That fic just didn't get even a lot of hits either Ao3 or ff.net.

Easiest story to write:. Well, until if hit a wall Last Contract was a joy. (and really I just have to make up my mind which direction to take it in)

Biggest surprise: That A Seed in Barren Lands continues to gather readers and kudos and interest to this day. Which is awesome, don't get me wrong, but for being a minor MCU ship it keeps trundling along.

Writing Goals of 2016:

1. I signed up for getyourwordsout pleding 200K, so that's one concrete goal for the whole year.
2. Finish Last Contract and work on Fallen on Snow, since both those are hanging, unfairly.
3. Looking at the list, it's pretty clear that I was kind of writing... the same things? So I think I need to mix things up some more, be more experimental, more pairings, more fandoms, more other different words. Or something.
4. and to go wtih three, I should finish something original. The other thing that appears a lot above is AU - some of it very AU - pieces that could go to orginal without much effort. But I think fanfic is more social/interactive, so it's hard for me to transition to being more on my own with the writing.

There's nothing saying you can't post the very AU stuff, then work on publishing it later. That way, you can both get the social interaction you want AND be making original words at the same time. You would not be the only person I know who posts to AO3 first, then to the "real world."

Kinda depends on the AU - if it's something that ultimately would be so close it'd have to come down, it feels like a waste of time. So I don't know, I've got a few possibilities that aren't posted or finished that I think can convert pretty easily, since I've got a few things that are posting right now and that keeps me more in touch.

It's kinda like what you were saying about finding a writing group - I need some sort of writerly interaction, too, and I don't have any in RL, so I don't want to cut off what I've got online.

You are a writing machine! Words and talent. I hate you, in a loving way. :D

PS, writing aside, meeting you was a highlight for me this year. :D
