that book meme
I think I did this book meme before, so I won't do it again. But looking at it, I'm slightly irritated because it has three Hardy books on it, and not the one I read. Damn you English class for making me read the wrong one! How can I meme if I read all the wrong books?!?!?! heh But I have read about six of my own free will, so it's sort of right, if I take out the ones I was required to read.

Ah, The Secret History. Y'know, I'm surprised no one's managed to make a film of that. The rights were sold for a bazillion dollars back in the day, IIRC, but it must've been one of those projects that poofed. I don't even know if people still read it, or was it one of those literary flash-in-the-pan, 50-shades-of-grey of its time?

But that list is sort of hilarious - not just the duplicates, but c'mon ,does anyone who is not a Shakespeare specialist read the Complete Works? I read a few plays on my own and I had a teacher who made us read a few extras, so I've probably read more than most non-lit majors, but still, I've maybe read half of them total. All seems like a lot to expect.

LOL. I pulled the meme and did it while half asleep and sick. I didn't notice half the points you raised, but did wonder why one play was stray from the rest, hee.

And Hardy, *shakes head* I'm still waiting for someone to convince me about his work.

heh, I don't remember Mayor of Casterbridge well at all, but I don't remember hating it, so, um, there's that? :)

I'm always one of those people who's read, like, zero of the books on those memes.

At least my English class was good for memes in the future!
