I have solved the great mystery! and TVD
Have you ever looked at what someone wrote about your show/your ship and thought "How is that person even watching the same show?" I don't mean in a "wow Ian Somerhalder is pretty so Damon's not that bad" sort of way - but in a "where the hell did you get THAT" or "That didn't even happen!" way.

Well, I've figured it out with the application of alcohol and Doctor Who. Obviously, it's NOT the same show.

That's because forums occasionally have rips in space-time that allow people in different universes to interact. So it's actually literally true that this batshit crazy person is watching a different show than you.

I don't know about you, but that makes me feel better. You're welcome.

I laughed when Damon got bit. I figured it was going to happen because we don't spend an entire episode on a minor character dying of a wolf bite for any other purpose than illustrate why it's so terrible for a main character. TVD writers aren't the best at following through, but that one was kind of a gimme. So the only question is how he gets out of it (and they may leave it a cliffhanger, which would not surprise me)

So I figured it would happen, so yep, I laughed. Damon, meet Karma. hee. I'm going to enjoy every second you writhe around in pain. Maybe this will teach him a lesson? nah.

Because forcing Elena to turn? She's totally right - he doesn't understand her or love or basic human feelings AT ALL. I mean, good lords he can't even figure it out using himself as a bsis - he spent how many years resenting the hell out of Stefan for completing his transition and not letting him die, and yet he turns around and does it to her? And when he did that, Stefan was a scared, lonely 17 year old. (and how much do I love (not) how the Damon fangirls who were all horrified and appalled that Stefan would do that Damon against his wishes, are now all "but he's just trying to save her because he loves her and doesn't want her to die." I swear, I really do wonder if some of these people live in the real world at all.)

I continually just rant about Damon, don't I? MOVING ON.

I LOVED how Stefan has always known Elena didn't want to turn, because she never brought it up. HE IZ SMART. And he spent that entire hike talking to her, honestly, not hiding the bad stuff, not trying to sugar-coat that YES IT SOMETIMES SUCKS TO BE A VAMPIRE. and she wants to be normal and grow up and do all the things that 17 year olds should.

And also, how heartbreaking to think that if all emotions are heightened - then how much worse is it to know she's taken and she's either going to die and be gone, or die and rise a vampire, a 'life' she doesn't want and was forced on her, exactly as it was forced on him?

MY HEART.

(I do wish they hadn't done the 'close your eyes' part, because I'm not the world's biggest Buffy fan and even I remember that part.)

Also, JENNNAAAAAAAAAA. OMG. NOOOOOOOOO. Just as you start being cool and interesting and doing stuff again! Nooooooooooooooooooooo

And yet, how fiendishly clever of Klaus. I expected him to use Katherine as the backup once Caroline was freed, not make a new one. Actually, I had wondered if he'd take Stefan, in some evil sort of "aw, how touching, let them die together" sort of thing. I still wonder if Stefan will volunteer to swap with Jenna once he realizes it's her, just to keep her alive for Elena. That's the sort of impulsiveness he's prone to (see also diving into an inescapable tomb to save Jeremy). He might not get the chance and Klaus might not accept the trade, but I think he would try, so Elena would have family with her for the rest of her 'unlife', just as he did.

See, now that's the sort of tragedy that would make terrible tv but it'd be a good story. The Salvatores both die, Bonnie takes down Klaus and lives, Katherine either slithers away or tries to rescue Stefan and gets killed, and Elena and Jenna join Caroline as young vampires, and Elijah, realizing he bears some responsibility for this mess becomes their mentor.

oh speaking of Elijah -- if I didn't love him already "You talk a good game, Damon, but the truth is, you don't know anything" would've won me over. BEST LINE OF THE NIGHT. YOU WIN FOREVER, ELIJAH.

Hope there's a lot of Elijah's magical elixir to go around: I figure it's getting used on someone-- Jenna, Elena, or Damon. All three of them be gonna die (or "die"), but the elixir's helping someone, I figure.

Um, and there was Caroline and Tyler and Matt finally figuring out that Caroline's still the same girl.

I kind of wish they'd cut back to Bonnie and Jeremy having passionate, end-of-the world sex in their hidey hole (cuz you know that's what going on while they're stuck in there), but... I guess I'll live. *g*

In other news, I've now seen the last four eps of Doctor Who S.5. I wish BBCA would put all of S.5 on-demand, not just the last four, but at least I've seen them, so now I can work backwards. I must be fannish, since I've been writing Drawer Fic. This is fanfic I can't actually share because it's a crossover with my own original fic, and full of characters no one's heard of. But immortal mash-up, what's not to love, huh? *g*

This makes so much sense, yes.

I was very excited when I figured it out.;)

THIS MAKES TOTAL SENSE OF EVERYTHING. =D

eta: which, er, was said previously. ALSO, I am sad that they do not have more s5. I have some of it, if that would help? (I am sort of amused and yet frustrated by the fact that I don't have both Angel episodes)

I've got the Angel episodes.

ETA: And now rewatching them is so much more interesting than programming homework, dammit!

I'm telling you - it really does explain how SOME people are watching a show that bears no resemblance to the one I'm watching. :)

I'm pretty sure I HAVE WAYS. I just find it easier to watch on the tv though because then I can do other things on the computer....

*giggles a lot*

Hurrah! But, yes, having them on the tv makes things easier. (I actually broke down and bought the dvds, with lots of "But you bought Torchwood" rationalizing)

Is this bad that I hope Damon will die from the bite? I know it won't happen but I could love this series if it was not for him.

I loved almost everything else. Stefan and Elena trip, Katharine stepping into the sun, Tyler and Caroline and Matt, Elijah being coll, Klaus being prepared and even Grace. What I loved most was Jenna being awesome but then they killed her and that was big no moment. I really, really hope they won't kill her off for good.
lizardbeth: Elena-Carolinelizardbeth_j on April 30th, 2011 03:16 am (UTC)
OMG I would love it if he died. So poetic. But no, that's not going to happen.

I think Jenna's going to die (permanently). I doubt they're keeping another vampire around - and Caroline's better established in the "newbie vampire" niche. :(.

I'm afraid you're right. This episode made me notice how fast they go through vampires. I was like there were so many of them and now Klaus has to make a new one to have one to sacrifice? Not much of eternal life, is it.

See, and you've gone your whole life just thinking those people were crazy !

NOW YOU KNOW THE TRUTH. :)
M: TVD - Bonnie/Jeremy can has sexy!timez?mfirefly10 on April 30th, 2011 03:05 am (UTC)
I would quote this whole darn thing but that would be a bit ridiculous. Essentially, Damon getting bitten is the best/worst thing EVER! Best because seeing him in physical pain is ALWAYS fun for me but worst because you know he's not actually going to die. I'm guessing he'll either survive because Tyler wasn't completely transformed when he bit him OR some witchy magic will allow Damon to become some kind of hybrid.

Sadly, I can't actually see Jenna becoming a vampire so I think she's pretty much a goner. Either she'll die in the ritual or she'll choose to let her body die instead of completing the transition. Either way, it'll suck :(

Also, I absolutely agree that Bonnie & Jeremy were MIA because they were too busy having smexy!timez in their secret sex cave.
lizardbeth: Elena-Carolinelizardbeth_j on April 30th, 2011 05:35 am (UTC)
yeah, I can't see Jenna surviving either, now. They already have Caroline as a newbie vamp, and Jenna's been hardly around anyway. But, sad. Poor Elena. :(

Smexytimes will strengthen a witch's power. Or at least I'm sure that's what she told Jeremy. I know I would have. :)
cujoy: Doctor & Rivercujoy on April 30th, 2011 02:25 pm (UTC)
The space-time warp. That definitely explains a few things!

I just caught this yesterday and now I am very worried for Jenna. I'm not sure they'll want to go long term with newbie vampires.
lizardbeth: Elena-Carolinelizardbeth_j on May 1st, 2011 05:50 am (UTC)
I'lll be surprised if Jenna lives, tbh. A second newbie vamp seems superfluous, and Caroline's much better integrated into the story. Once I saw she'd turned I became pretty sure she's the big death. :( Poor Jenna. Poor Elena.

Omg the fan difference in opinion on this episode is INEXPLICABLE. And I have been careful not to go to people's journals who I know have... slightly different opinions than me. *cough* But even the odd comment here and there and the way people are jumping on Stefan for being too "passive" in this episode. WHAT? WHAT?? I can fight them all.

I loved the whole thing, though. What a knock out of the park, Julie and Kevin.
lizardbeth: Elena-Stefanlizardbeth_j on May 1st, 2011 06:24 am (UTC)
ahah. You know exactly what I mean, don't you? HOW IS IT POSSIBLE they are watching our show? I JUST. I DON'T EVEN KNOW.

like, what was he supposed to do? There was nothing to do BUT stay with Elena andhelp her prepare as much as he could. I mean, really - he's supposed to spend all day rushing around searching for a cure for vampirism? Or magically find a way to kill Klaus when Katherine and Elijah haven't figured it out in centuries?

argh, they frustrate me. and they clearly are watching another show where defeating Klaus is apparently far easier than in our universe.

OUR SHIP IS PERFECT. THE END
