WIP meme
Gakked from ... around...

If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fanfiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post exactly one sentence (or more) from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favourite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else -- this is merely to whet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s).

And since I have no shortage of WIPs to pick from, I thought I could play, even if I can't quite play by the rules. So here, in theoretical order of completion are a few paragraphs for your entertainment...

Distorted Reflections, co-written with Lori Wright.

From Chapter One...

"Is it just me or are the arches glowing?" Daniel asked quietly, squinting upward.

Jack followed Daniel's gaze. The arches were glowing. They seemed to be taking on a reddish cast. Worse, the pinnacle of the spike was shining brightly, and he didn't think it was a reflection of the sunlight.

"Sir, the noise is getting louder and higher pitched. I think it's building a charge," Carter suggested, her voice raised above the strange noise and the wind.

The color was shifting, from red through orange and yellow to green. The light was bright within the arches, making the surface seem transparent.

Jack opened his mouth to order them back to the gate, knowing this couldn't be good.

Lightning flashed, blinding him. As the white light seared across his vision, an electric tingle swept through his body. He wasn't able to finish the annoyed, resigned swearword that sprang to his mind before the brilliance abruptly went dark.

A Bond of Blood

Malek jerked at the sound of her voice and raised his head to look at her.

Sam stumbled back, lifting her gun to point it at him. What the hell? What had happened to him?

Road to Tartarus

The bounty hunter came strolling back, with a little bounce in his step and a grin at Asheron. "Nice try, Malek of the Tok'ra," he emphasized the name sarcastically. "I can't even be angry, since you're going to make me very, very rich."

Asheron said nothing, but he didn't seem surprised.

"'Very, very rich'?" Daniel repeated curiously. "How rich?"

The bounty hunter laughed. "Rich enough that we're all going to take a long trip."

Asheron stepped forward. "Morrigan is closer. She'll pay you the same for SG-1. And I assure you, she'll reward you well for my capture. Then we'll be off your hands."

The bounty hunter just smirked at him. "Do you have any idea what Baal is offering to the person who brings you to him alive?"

John and Aeryn bodyswap with Vala and Cam Fic
Uh, note that I scribbled about ten pages (handwritten, so not that much) of this the other day. I don't know if I should write more of it, so I'd be interested in opinions on the concept, at least.

"I'm going to go over the MALP readouts for tomorrow," Carter said, "I could use your help if Daniel doesn't need you."

Aeryn muttered indistinctly and pointed to her full mouth in apology. Her head snapped up, as Crichton entered the commissary.

what does NaNoWriMo mean? And i don't have an WIP anymore, apart from 2 that are rubbish. Would unpublished novels do instead? ;)

NaNoWriMo is "National Novel Writing Month". I think it's September (or maybe November, I forget), you'll know you're in it when Lj people start sporting NaNoWriMo icons. It's a challenge for each participant to start and finish a novel (defined IIRC as 50,000 words) within a month. Not great prose, mind you -- it's all about finishing and word count. It's a writing exercise, basically.

You have no WIP's... dude, I've got more WIPs than I can freaking count. Okay, most of them are really 'abandoned' not WIPs. I tend to write long, but I'm also easily bored, so I abandon all the time. That's why I find it such an accomplishment to actually finish something. ;)

It's a meme; you can do whatever you want. :P

giving the fic a rest, well kind of. what i write tends to get torn to shreds atm. So the last two have gone up unbetad just to fill 2 prompts. That's why i have no wips.
