BSG:NO EXIT

OH SAM.

Let me share with you how frakked this show has made me. I happened to spy a bit of episode reaction before I clicked away (west coast is hard, y'all), that seemed to imply he DIED. So I was waiting for it, dreading it, the whole episode.

And then? He's not dead, so I was RELIEVED. Yes, I am relieved that my favorite character is in a BRAIN DEAD COMA.

I AM FRAKKED IN THE HEAD, clearly.

(this despite the fact that I was trying to figure out ways he could resurrect through the 'colony' they mentioned, even without the Hub, since I'm not sure they needed it)

*deep breath*

Kara and her desperation and love. Trying to take the blame, and overriding him, and doing what she had to do AS HIS WIFE, to try to save him? And how he totally used the Demetrius against her to get his way, at least for a little while? LOVE.

And I wish I didn't know about Trucco's accident, because I felt really bad for him having to act in all that stuff, that was only a few months ago for him when he filmed this. Maybe I'm projecting and it was totally different experience, but still, yikes.

And aphasia-Sam? LOVE HIM. So frantic to tell the story, compelled to get it all out there, even if it kills him? NO NO SWEETIE, it isn't worth your life. It's not. Really. ESPECIALLY WHEN ELLEN IS ALIVE AND COMING TO FIND YOU.

(and also, Michael Trucco is a sweetheart and I HEART him, but he is a LYING LIAR WHO LIES. "I don't remember where the story goes....It was so long ago..." Riiiight.)

I totally need to digest all the info in there. It was, pretty much, the sci-fi answer I expected, though. Even down to the FLT voyage explaining the time differential, and the Centurions finding them. It isn't the answer I WANTED, which creates a conundrum for a certain in-progress epic of epicness. I'll have to cogitate on that for a bit.

Anyway, Kate Vernon is awesome as Cylon Mama. LOVE HER. Did you see how she brought Boomer back? SHE DID! SHE DID! YAY!

And Dean Stockwell continues to creep me the frak out. There was one shot with little beetle eyes when he was just freaky.

I thought the parallel was interesting between Sam breaking down and Galactica breaking down - and I can only hope that Adama giving in and allowing the Cylon gel to fix the cracks, will mean that Ellen can bring some other Cylon something and fix Sam too.

And Tigh/Caprica? awwww. So, they've been shacked up for quite some time, it seems. She said 'weeks' that the booze had been gone, so it's been weeks since the amnesty. Two, I guess, given the time stamps on the webisodes.

oh, and Lee? BE SMARTER AND WRONGER!? *snicker* Or, y'know, in Laura-speak, try not to come off as an insufferable self-righteous prick.

Tory was still being MIss cylon. "They totally did it first!" heh. And her and Tyrol as a couple reactions? *giggle* (but THANK YOU Ron, for not giving me Sam and Tory love affair across the ages as I feared. we have one already, and I'm really glad we're not going there.)

OH, and John Hodgman? A leeeeetle too excited about BRAAAAIIIINSS!

wait, no, not done. DANIEL. MODEL SEVEN. A sensitive artistic soul... this is either the world's biggest red-herring, or that is describing Kara's father. Now, I'm still down with Kara being Aurora, but this does, I have to admit, raise that hybrid spec WAY back up there in possibility.

I am fascinated by the idea that it was Centurions who thought up the idea of the One True God all on their own. (and speaking of, how wonderful was Ellen asking it politely to help her up?)

okay that's all I can think of for now.

every week I say it, and every week it's still true. I need next week!
(but then there'll be only a few more, and I'll be sad)

Heh. But not dead is not dead! So there's that.

YAY! for continuity and role-reversal storyline!

Hee, it made me remember that I am watching a sci-fi show, which I actually forget sometimes. A different feel on this one.

I am amused (and a little sad for them) that they did in fact nap for a few thousand years like I'd jokingly requested, and yet are still major players and responsible for the Humlons. I'm not sure if I got what I wanted or not.

*clings to not dead* As long as Ellen can reboot him, or something. I hope.

This is what happens when you get PC-Guy to fix a machine -- BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.

heh, just remember TWOP rule to live by for BSG: "Everything you want in the worst possible way." so true.

and also, Michael Trucco is a sweetheart and I HEART him, but he is a LYING LIAR WHO LIES.

LOL! So true. I should have known, given how well he pretended that he was going to be the reincarnated Bob Dylan in another interview (before laughing it off as a joke and having way too much fun with the fact that they believed him).

The fact that RDM had Kara not only acknowledged as Sam's wife, but treated as if she could handle the responsibility, and obviously caring deeply about what happened? I might forgive the man.

Yes, It's been clear for a while that MT is pretty wise to the ways of fandom. I don't know if it's just that he has so much fun and is kinda a geek himself, or what, but he's a pretty smooth operator sometimes.

And yes, wasn't that great that Cottle treated her just exactly as his wife, with a wife's responsibilities? There was no question, no hesitation about her right to be there and make decisions or anything. It was just natural and right. So that was great to see from a writing standpoint, yes. So often in the past we've had Kara being so wrapped up in herself she didn't even see him, but this was different and very welcome.

I just skimmed your post but let me say, YES! I think I'm with you on all of this, down to Daniel as Kara's father. But the main thing I wanted to say is that I was so thinking of you and all of your Sam and mysticism fics while watching this. I was squeeing for you!
lizardbeth: Anders- Helolizardbeth_j on February 14th, 2009 08:00 pm (UTC)
I'm just a teeny bit disappointed it wasn't MORE mystical, actually, but I think I can work around it. :)

But it was great to have actual answers that matched a lot of my spec, too. Talk about a show I'm going to be rewatching!

Ellen managed to resurrect w/o help of the hub in Cavil's basestar, I ASSUME ANDERS CAN DO THE SAME IF HE DIES? IDEK.

Oh Sam ♥ LOL TRUCCO THOUGH. I forgive him for being a lying liar, since he was trying his best not to spoiler our asses. :D

I love the Centurions (esp the one that helped Ellen, too adorable).
lizardbeth: Anders - gunlizardbeth_j on February 14th, 2009 07:58 pm (UTC)
I'm not sure about the resurrection possibility. She definitely died and resurrected before the Hub was blown, but there's also their original resurrection ship someplace which I suspect is the same thing as the Opera House, so... dunno. Presumably Ellen will know, though.

No, I know, I forgive him, too. It was just so funny to have read that a few days ago, and it be so obvious today that he was playing with everyone.

Ah! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I felt so bad for him.

I loved Sam talking about brain functions and being scientist and that Galen sound more and more like an engineer making through design problems then just repair man. The difference between who they used to be and who Cavil made them. That's some twisted sense of humor. And sadism.

I loved how this episode did a turn around on Kara. This time she had to be the grown up. She had to make a decision either to let him have his way and hurt himself or go against his wishes and stop his self destructive behaviour. And I love how Sam used Demetrious against her - I let you be obsessed and self-destructive, now you help me do it. And how hard it was for her to make up her mind – especially when he teased her about the answers. Because she would do anything to know. She did everything to know. And he used that against her. Because he knows her so well and knows what buttons to push.

This was such a Kara-like behaviour. They are so alike. It makes me wonder. There are many speculations Daniel (the Seventh) was Kara’s father. Both were artists and Kara’s father has mysteriously disappeared. And Cavil got rid of every copy of Seventh and there was no way to resurrect. So if Daniel really is Kara’s father and Anders 1.0 was a musician – was Kara’s father modelled on him? You know interests and personality traits. This would explain why they are so similar.

Ellen was incredibly awesome - brilliant, collected, compassionate and still sticking to her views and decisions. And she wasn't intimidated by John at all despite her position.

And so was Boomer the raptor pilot organising rescue operation.

I thought Trucco was awesome here. I mean that's a lot of exposition to talk through; I believed everything he said and was hanging on there just listening. Usually I'd be saying, why not show us or give us a flashback? But I was glad to just watch him struggled on.

Yes, I am relieved that my favorite character is in a BRAIN DEAD COMA. not me. I'm depressed, especially after awww-squee-awww-ing through out the episode. I am so blaming Ishay for this medical failure - Kara needs to know this and not feel guilty about choosing the operation.
