THE OATH
I have nothing to say that isn't spoilery.

GODS, where to start? *deep breath*

okay, let's start at the beginning. Gaeta. Oh Gaeta, why can't you use some of that cleverness and do something USEFUL with it, like figure out where THE REST OF HUMANITY is going to live? Instead of, y'know, a plan which is going to get a lot more of the fragile flowers you supposedly feel so strongly about getting themselves dead. I'm sorry that his life is so shitty, and yeah, Papa and Mama Bear are really not doing a great job, but this is not the way. But nonetheless, a very clever plan, hinging on Gaeta being the place where communications come into CIC. And he was being so "helpful"... (AJ seriously was bringing it. really, fabulous nuanced performance.)

Tigh's face when he sees Roslin come out in her robe ... PRICELESS. omg. But this and the later scene in CIC was an interesting reversal - old days, Tigh would've done his urge to violence and Adama wouldn't have listened, now he does. So, yeah, I gotta say, Gaeta's right about that-- Adama's not the commander he was (but then Gaeta's not the bright shiny officer he was either, so WTF does he expect?)

oh KARA, you are so badass when you get your Starbuck on. "fight 'em til we can't." Same old fight, new faces. And her and Lee being all teamy was awesome. Good thing Kara went to the flight deck when she did.

And Saul and Bill were even more impressive in some ways, since they started out as prisoners. Not-manacled, poorly guarded prisoners... but then, Gaeta's underestimating Bill in many ways.

Though not so much as he's underestimating Laura Roslin, methinks. Because if Gage thinks Adama was in a fury to get his men during Pegasus - he ain't seen nothing yet when Laura roslin takes back HER FLEET. And her man, but especially her fleet. Her speech was awesome.

(oh, and Gage and Narcho, it's really too bad you both didn't DIE on Pegasus. because obviously you're both still the sick frakkers you were then. Hoshi and Laird (OH LAIRD!) were the only decent people left apparently.)

I hope Racetrack reconsiders, and wasn't as involved, but ... I think fanon has possibly been more kind to her than she deserves. Or maybe getting three human murders (possibly including some friends, given they were Raptor pilots) swept under the rug to protect the alliance was the last straw. Very disappointing to see her involved in Lee's taking (not so much the Zarek-freeing, since that was pretty much expected, but to let Skulls hold a GUN to Lee's head? She did seem a bit shocked by it all, so hopefully she'll realize it's all going to hell in a handbasket)

Seelix, I hope you die. Standing there and watching those two frakkers beat Sam? Finding out that Sam was a Cylon totally flipped your switch into thinking he's Cavil that easily? Jealousy that he never returned your crush? Disgust that you had a crush on a Cylon, even though you KNOW he didn't know? Once a sadistic bitch always one, I guess.

(but I do have to say that watching that was even more layers of horrible, because it occurred to me that she probably would have killed a stand-in, if Trucco hadn't been able to come back to the show. Sam very nearly died RIGHT THERE. *gulp* That would've been extremely hard to watch if he'd really been paralyzed or killed or something else awful in RL)

Tyrol, I have to take back some of my hate for you from last week. This week? You know what to do and you do it. Next time, more forcefully tell Lee to shut it, though. NOT ALL CYLONS ARE KILLERS, mmkay? (I realize Lee's main job in this is to remind the audience that Zarek and Gaeta do have good points, but seriously? Getting in TIGH's single EYE about how Tigh nuked the Colonies? I would like just one of the Five Three to point out that they were NOT INVOLVED, know nothing, and in fact have made their own choices to help the humans, just as the humans do. Even if they may not know it for a fact - at least frakking SAY it)

AGATHONS. All the Agathons in a cell. Even Hera. how can anyone with any claim to moral high ground WHATSOEVER put a little girl in a cell? I hope Athena and Caprica and Helo don't even leave little pieces for Kara to play with.

And I hope Sam comes against Seelix or Connor again. Then he can remind them that HE was the one who walked away from killing Gaeta, they didn't. Failing that, he can shoot them both.

oh, man, someone just pointed out that Jafee, the kid who died in CIC after running down to fire control and back. Was basically Adama's steward, brought him coffee at least as far back as Day in the Life. No wonder Adama was pissed.

And also, CAPTAIN KELLY's back. Was wondering if he was still alive. And boy does he have a grudge, I'm sure. (eta: he's been in CIC, right? I know he was LSO, but he was also in CIC for awhile, IIRC. So why isn't he in CIC helping Gaeta? Gaeta afraid that Kelly outranks him and would take over? Or having a mad-bomber on his team maybe isn't all the rage this year?)

Okay, yes, I am all about TEAM CYLON. But I have to agree with one poster that it'd be hilarious if Cavil came back right now. Dark, but hilarious. GOOD LUCK THERE "Commander" Gaeta.

In sum, I give this two flaily arms of OMG!

look, even neutral Cylon Raider icon!

Though I really ought to just slap 'Team Cylon' on there and be done with it.

MY BOY. :( *cries*

(Kara better get down there and rescue his pretty, but bruised ass)

THEY BEAT ON HIM. IT WAS JUST AS AWFUL AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. and she just stood there and watched. And that was worse. It was one of the marines who stopped the enthusiastic one, not her. grrrrrrrrr. *hates*

I just hope he gets a chance to take some of it back from all his former 'friends'.

And yes, Kara needs to go back to the brig and find another way in. pronto!

:(

It is hard to be a Sam fangirl and <3 Seelix. Pod person. *firm nod* (at least Jean never knew)

I'm not even sure the Cylon brig is in the same general vicinity.
lizardbeth: Anders - greylizardbeth_j on January 31st, 2009 09:16 am (UTC)
yeah, I don't know where they are. I was thinking it was the brig, since Kara and Lee said they tried to get in there and couldn't, but it was kind of a big room. anyway, wherever they are, Kara needs to find it and liberate it. and bring weapons, so Team Hotness can go on a beat-down spree.

Seelix was kind of awesomely hardcore when she kicked Cavil's weapon away from him. Now? Not so much. Not when it's against Sam, who doesn't deserve it. And she's doing it out of spite which is just that much worse. So, she's dead to me, unless she manages to change her mind and do something useful and not hate-filled.
cujoycujoy on January 31st, 2009 01:36 pm (UTC)
I'm afraid I'm totally with you in so far as Seelix is concerned. She was a little bit too hard core here for her to have any kind of sudden switch. I do, however, think that Racetrack was showing a decent amount of regret for her actions, and the consequences of them.

Oh, and I'm totally betting that Cavil shows up sometime very soon and everyone has to pull it back together and remember who the real enemy is.

Which is why Ron had to kill Dee. :(

Sam very nearly died RIGHT THERE.
OH GODS. I hadn't thought of that. ::wibble::

In sum, I give this two flaily arms of OMG!
I will add my own two flaily arms of OMG and add a huge GULP.

Kara and co need to rescue Sam and the Agathons RFN OMG. Also, there had better be a body count when this is done. Gaeta, Zarek, Gage, Connor, Kelly, Skulls...maybe even Racetrack and Seelix. Someone needs to remind them that some things you DO NOT FORGIVE. Kara is right. They are not your men any more Adama, they are the enemy. KILL THEM ALL.
greygreycoupon on January 31st, 2009 04:45 pm (UTC)
If Dee were alive this never would have happened.
mrsdrjacksonmrsdrjackson on January 31st, 2009 04:55 pm (UTC)
Exactly. So Ron *had* to get rid of her, because the mutiny is more important to the plot than one officer having a mental collapse. I feel slightly (slightly) better about it now.
lizardbethlizardbeth_j on January 31st, 2009 10:08 pm (UTC)
Or she would've been poor Jaffee, killed the moment she noticed something was wrong. Gaeta did, after all, have Hoshi hauled off to holding somewhere (and Hoshi was at her station) so I don't think he would've backed down over Dee. She had some influence over him, but post webisodes, I don't think it would've mattered all that much, really. His course was fixed. She could've been killed in CIC, or dragged off to holding, or perhaps escaped to fight on Team Adama.

Oh there is no "maybe" about Seelix for me. She's the female version of Gage - once there aren't any consequences, she defaults to the meanest behavior she can sink to. Racetrack has a chance, but she stood there and did nothing when Laird was killed and when Skulls nearly shot Lee, so... she better do something pretty frakking spectacular to come back. And given Kara shot Skulls, I doubt 'track is in a very forgiving mood either.
mrsdrjackson: Destiny Sbuckmrsdrjackson on February 1st, 2009 01:54 am (UTC)
Poor Hoshi. Yeah now that you mention it, Dee would have been just like poor Jaffee. Frakking Gaeta. *spits*

For Seelix death is TOO GOOD. She needs to be punished, not just killed. >:/ Racetrack got in over her head, she didn't realize all this would end in so much bloodshed. Yes she's a cylon-hater but she could switch sides...though Kara may have to introduce her to a table again just to be sure. ;P

I get why they're doing the whole revolution thing because hey, Adama and Roslin seem way too busy playing house to really take care of the Fleet and haven't been all there in quite a while... but killing everyone? THERE'S ONLY 30,000 people left! Seriously, how do they think taking more lives is gonna help?

Sheesh.
lizardbeth: Kara-Anders IIlizardbeth_j on January 31st, 2009 09:44 pm (UTC)
Gaeta seemed to have this naive idea that he could put Adama and Tigh and the other Cylon lovers in holding, with only a few casualties. He did not at all count on any resistance, or the pent-up anger blowing out in all directions. Once the die was cast, he can't back out - he has to win or he's dead. But I do hope when he finally hears the numbers of dead it'll start sinking in that he's killing more of the human race than the rebel cylons he's trying to resist... dumbass.

But yeah, that's Gaeta in a nutshell - doing the right thing with absolutely no understanding of other people. Then he's always so betrayed when it blows up in his face, again and again.
My way of staying sane: racetrack skullsmamaboolj on January 31st, 2009 07:53 pm (UTC)
Fanon loves Racetrack - me included - but I think canon gave us lots of evidence that this would be the case. I just rewatched AMoS on my flight back and the missing scenes she has a smirk on her face. And she also believed in Earth and would be devastated by finding out it was not what she had hoped. Her faith is rocked, and she's always hated cylons. So, I buy it with no problems. Seelix, no surprise either. But still.....

My two favorite b-line women - Seelix and Racetrack - ohhhhh they disappointed me. And Skull too. Here I'll use my icon and then I may have to delete it out of disappointment :(
lizardbeth: Anders - gunlizardbeth_j on January 31st, 2009 09:57 pm (UTC)
Yeah, realizing that was Skulls holding a gun on Lee, and she was just watching. yikes.

Racetrack seemed to be so friendly/accepting of Sharon, but I guess Sharon did such a good job of pretending to be human that she could be an exception, as long as her Cylon-ness didn't become an issue.

I want to say that they both hoped it would be a bloodless coup, but then they were there when Zarek killed Laird. So that goes out the window even earlier than Lee. So anyway, I believe her stance, but it's just, yeah, so disappointing. (I was thinking of that moment when their raptor crashes and they walk away and I was SO GLAD. man, that scene's going to be hard to rewatch and not wish they die)

And Helo needs to get up and commence the beat down on Gage ASAP.

"AGATHONS. All the Agathons in a cell. Even Hera. how can anyone with any claim to moral high ground WHATSOEVER put a little girl in a cell? I hope Athena and Caprica and Helo don't even leave little pieces for Kara to play with"

The mutineers have nothing to do with morality and everything to do with power seeking, and jealousy.
