BSG: Ties that Bind
Thanks to the SciFi streaming all frakking day long I saw the ep way more times than I usually see any t.v. episode, especially in one day. And I am STILL all curfubbled. (ok, that's not a word, but I LIKE IT).

SCIFI promo monkeys really do suck just that hard. DAMN. Although being spoiled really didn't help.

Cally. Total breakdown. Not that I blame her, discovering Tyrol was a Cylon (eavesdroppers never hear anything good is SO true, and never truer than on t.v.), that she's got a half-breed child, and she was herself used for breeding half-breeds. On top of depression and lack of sleep. And I swear she was HALLUCINATING Nicky crying half the time, which would be just horrible. Real crying's bad enough, but to hear it when it's not even happening...

Which is why Tyrol's attempt at comfort by saying they could have another child was precisely the WRONG thing to say. It's very wrenching. (sorry, sorry)

Wow, Tory. Cold. But she calculated and it looks like it came out: "Cally=threat, threat=Airlock, therefore Cally=airlock." Simple, efficient. And (so far) free of consequences. I presume it was just declared a suicide and Tory cleaned up after herself, either leaving Nicky there to be discovered by others, or sneaking him back to the Tyrols. But with Cottle's testimony and Tyrol's bump on the head, there was probably not much investigation.

Smaller points: Tory has super powers now. You do not ONE HANDED, while holding a child that weighs 20 pounds, hit a woman of your own body weight across the floor like that without some serious power. THAT is awesome.

I am also really glad that none of the other four were involved. I don't mind some ambiguity on the Four's loyalties, but I don't want them all to be tainted by this.

Poor Galen Tyrol.

Actually Poor EVERYONE in this episode, come to think of it.

CYLON CIVIL WAR! best thing EVER OMG. I love Natalie so much. "Escort him off the ship. Please." heh. Centurions are cool, but they are CREEEEEEEPY and scary.

She better not be dead. Maybe the Leobens will rush in with a backup fleet at the last second and save them? *looks hopeful*

Boomer, still breaking my heart. But I hope finding out that Cavil really doesn't care about who lives and dies, even among his own kind, is going to wake her up. But then I think, to what? *cries for Boomer* But I like what Grace is doing with Natalie's henchwoman Eight.

Basestars will never not be beautiful though.

I wonder why Matthew Bennett was in the credits when he wasn't even there. Did I miss a glimpse of my woobie, or did they cut him out? *cries for Doral*

comments abruptly cut short by Kidlet nightmares. More later.

Maybe.

Tory knocked her cold for a good thirty seconds, too. Because she got the key from the whatsit and was up in the booth. *sleepy*

Eep. Poor Kidlet.

kidlet had a rough night. Sorry I left you hanging in chat, but had to go tend him.

Is ok, darlin'. I wasn't all that brain-alive, for the most part.

I am really hoping that this "Tory with super powers" thing is a sign that they are going to use her character for more than Cylon!slut. There is so much awesome that could be done, if only they would write it!

oh, after last night, I have no doubt they're planning some serious go-to-town with her. You don't make her a murderess in episode three of the season and expect that not to pay off someplace down the road. At the very least she's now the hitwoman of choice for the Four and also their connection to Baltar's cult.

ew, I just got the very creeptastic, yet very scarily possible idea of Tory *confessing* what she's done to Baltar.

I really hope you are right. Also, it would be cool if they would actually use all of the fantastic female characters that they created with this show. Probably asking too much there, but a girl has to have hope.

Oh ew Liz just ew.

Something for me to ponder: Why is it that I respect Tory's cold no-nonsense attitude about possible threats but have total hatred for Roslin because of hers?

Well, um, she's not so self-righteous about it? I mean, I adore Madame Airlock in all her fucked-up glory, but she's gotten more and more detached from everything and more and more convinced that she is NEVER WRONG as the seasons go by.
mrsdrjacksonmrsdrjackson on April 21st, 2008 12:25 pm (UTC)
Yes, I do believe you've hit the nail on the head. I don't deal with self-righteous well at all and Roslin is the Queen of self-righteous. Should be interesting to see how her NEVER WRONG belief makes life a challenge for either her or the people around her. Meanwhile she has a cylon voice in her ear...

*snerk*

I think what's scary about Tory is that it *was* so rational. You don't keep dangerous things around when they threaten your way of life. She's got that in common with Laura.

Gah, my show.

*nods* Yeah, exactly. A couple of friends of mine were expressing surprise that Tory would have done that so coldly, but . . . this is the woman who helped conspire to steal an election and hide a baby whose mother had been led to believe was dead and and and . . . I mean, IMO, she was Roslin's aide for a reason. The cold rational expediency isn't a new trait to her, I don't think; she's just never had to use it in this context before.

The apprentice learned from the master, for sure. And now all that political expediency is mapped onto a survival instinct and a sense that everything is changing, nothing matters. Very scary.

I hope the kidlet's okay!

Tory has super powers now.

I wonder if all the Final Four are wandering around, accidentally breaking things with their super strength all of a sudden. Like whoops! Ripped this hatch RIGHT OFF. And no, that's not suspicious, at all!
lizardbeth: Anders - shirtlizardbeth_j on April 19th, 2008 10:09 pm (UTC)
LOL! That would be hilarious. We need BSG-THE SITCOM where wacky things like that could happen.

Yes, kidlet's okay, thx. He was just having a rough night, poor guy.
