It's raining, it's pouring
back!

This weekend we went to San Diego to visit friends. It was sprinkling the whole way down and raining all the way back up the coast.

BUT in the middle, in the morning, it wasn't raining and we went to the San Diego Zoo. Highlights:
- the 4 month old panda, Shen Shen, who was small and cute (but sleeping. bummer)
- her big sister Su Lin, who was actually up and doing stuff. I have panda video! It's awesome.
- my rugrat DEMANDING to go see the polar bears next, even though polar bears are way off in the far corner of the park...
- watching a keeper feed a komodo dragon. and HOW do you feed a Komodo dragon, you ask? Well, apparently you stick its food into a big cardboard box, tape it up, and then watch the big lizard bash the hell out of the box until he gets a hole in it, wiggles his head inside, and eats the contents. We never saw what was inside.
- have a goat try to eat the leather tassels on my purse
- Wee dik-diks running around
- a giant condor POSING just for me, with its wings outspread

But best of all? Having the park practically to ourselves because everyone else was afraid of the rain. bwhahaha, CHICKENS!

Awww, pandas! That sounds like the perfect zoo day.

And don't you know? Polar bears are the coolest animals out there after the panda bear and must there fore be view immediately after them. The people who organize the zoo should really listen to the rugrat-he knows howt he zoo should be properly layed out.

:P

Sadly I don't think the polar bears were worth all the excitement, this time. Because of the rather cool temperatures they were enjoying a beautiful balmy spring day in polar bear land and SLEEPING.

Sleeping? Foolish bears, sleeping is for the dead.

Dude. You do not want to see what that komodo dragon was eating, most likely.

probably not. Especially since we all figure they started out alive. But it was kind of funny to see a giant lizard with a big cardboard box over his head.
