Friday and Saturday
We're watching "Wraiths of Roanoke" on Skiffy and the Highlander fan in me is depressed that this is a better movie than "Highlander: the Source". It's not a great film by any means, but at least it's watchable (and it doesn't have crappy music videos sprinkled in, which makes it a thousand times better right there). Why couldn't the Source have been at least this adequate? *sad face*

So, casting news on the new Star Trek film...

On the one hand, SQUEE! Eric Bana, Simon Pegg, and John Cho. YAY!

On the other...

*frowny face*

All three have done drama, sure, but a lot of comedy too. umm, JJ, what are you thinking, dude? If you're thinking parody, don't go there - Galaxy Quest already mined the comedy gold out of it.

It's fans like me who bowed out of the franchise in Year 2 of Voyager you want back, Paramount, and a campy movie isn't going to bring me back.

We're going to the new(ish) Blade Runner: Final Cut this weekend!

BIG SCREEN, baby! WOOT!

Now if only we can fit in Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D at some point, I'll be a happy fan girl.

Atlantis: Reunion

Sam and Teal'c. That was such a great scene. And it's just awesome to see colonel eagles on sam's uniform I gotta say (though I do wonder whether Captain to Colonel in eight years is even do-able, but saving the world a few times undubitably moves you upward on the list...)

Thank God for IMDB. I couldn't figure out what I knew Mark Decansos from, and it was bugging the crap out of me when he first appeared. I hate not knowing.

And ewww, Wraith worshippers. Poor Ronon. It wasn't that they were just bad friends, not just that they betrayed him and his new friends, no, they were the brainwashed toadies of the people who destroyed their own planet. That would be horrible to find out. And he's had really bad luck with Satedan survivors, hasn't he, poor guy. Let Teyla make it all better, Ronon.

Or Sam. Because that confrontation was amazingly HOT. SEE! Didn't I TELL YOU? HOT!

John snurched Rodney's fruit basket. heh.

I thought it was a nice touch in the Hive Ship that Sam let Radek carry the tricorder thingy. That would've been her job on SG-1, and she's doing (and more to the point, the writers) are doing the right thing by having her not do that.

Nothing really meaty to say, except that Sam's bringing me back to Atlantis and I'm enjoying it, so... she's doing what Skiffy hoped she would, I guess. I'm sorry we had to lose Weir to gain Sam (and personally I'm convinced there's more to that changeover than we know, and I have my theory) but... at least we still have Sam!

I'm witholding Empire of Ivory from myself until I finish my reel_sg1 fic. The book is still in the bookstore.

Of course staying up til all hours isn't helping either.

Don't forget Zoe Saldana for Trek. Knowing JJ's penchant for strong female characters, and her acting, I'm really looking forward to what they do with Uhura ...

oh yes, I saw that too. Which is v. cool. And Z Quinto, too. I'm sure it's just an oddity of building the ensemble that there are so many former comedic types. It was just the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the list yesterday.

Wraiths of Roanoke was, uh, basically Highlander fanfic, wasn't it?
lizardbethlizardbeth_j on October 15th, 2007 03:03 am (UTC)
a better fanfic than the travesty pretending to be a HL film that's for sure.

zomg this last SGA episode was filled with awesome.

Sam/Ronon is now my ship (if she can't have Teyla, no interaction there to speak of, so for now I wait). Jack who? Really, I will be happy with her having anyone but McKay.
Or Teyla/Ronon...that would be fierce.

This new season has re-captured my attention as well. *glee* I missed most of last season, so I fell out of the fandom for a while. I miss Wier, but her story is not done, of this I am sure.

Rodney's fanboi crush on Sam and his meandering conversation with that Wraith was just adorable! I find him less annoying with each episode. There is hope for him yet I think.

Ronon makes EVERY ship better and hotter, this is a fact. *nods*

oh wait for it, I'm sure Rodney will irritate you. he comes and goes in phases of annoyingness, at least with me. If I were Radek though, I'd totally have pitched him into the ocean long ago!
mrsdrjackson: fangirl squealsmrsdrjackson on October 15th, 2007 04:02 am (UTC)
I admire and respect the self-restraint of Radek...I just hope that no one ever expects me to follow his example. If I had someone that annoying in my life one of us would no longer be in said life, that much is certain.
I think that the loss of Elizabeth may have actually touched something in Rodney...or that could just be a fangirl pipe dream. I guess skiffy will just have to make sure I keep watching if they want me to find out.

I'm giggling that you're the second person to say that movie was better than the HL one. Because, yes, it probably was.

Considering a film I shot in my backyard with my parents Super 8 camera would be better than The Source, it's probably not saying a lot. But Roanoke was definitely better.

I'm not so sure about "Decoys 2" currently taking up airtime on Skiffy. *blinks* there was a Decoys 1???? *snerk*

Loved Reunion. It was definately my favorite scene from season 4 (so far.)

I never so the whole wraith worshipper thing coming. Completely blew my mind. Very sad and shocking. Loved that scene between them though. Awesome dialog and....fight scene....amazing. I feel really bad for Ronon. :(

The fruit basket...I so saw it coming.Poor rodney...Lol.That was funny.

I never really watched SG1 so Im not that big of a Sam fan and I am kinda sad that Weir is gone because I was just starting to like her character.

Oh and the Nightmare Before Christmas would be awesome in 3D

Sam will grow on you, because she is AWESOME.

Poor Ronon, he needs someone to comfort him, don't you think? :)
